June Gertig is skilled at the design, delivery, and management of technical assistance (TA) across multiple formats tailored for diverse audiences and preferred learning modalities. Trained as a lawyer with 20 years in private practice, she is gifted in policy and program analysis and is a talented writer. As Project Director, she has designed and delivered a culturally appropriate array of very successful onsite and meetings-based TA services and a range of practical "how-to" TA products for a wide variety of target audiences. Target audiences have spanned all class, economic, and educational groups and urban, suburban, and rural/frontier environments, including Native American, African-American, and Latino recovery communities; recovering individuals with co-occurring mental and/or physical disorders (including infectious diseases) and other conditions (including homelessness); recovering women with children; recovering ex-offenders and individuals involved in drug court programs; LGBT recovery communities; and faith-based recovery communities. Target audiences have also included individuals with very different alcohol and drug histories and treatment and/or recovery patterns, including abstinence based, faith/spirituality based, and medically assisted. Ms. Gertig also has been responsible for shepherding this technical assistance effort through an agency-initiated change in programmatic emphasis, assisting agency program staff and grantees in identifying, integrating, and building on lessons learned while moving forward in a manner responsive to, and reflective of, evolving priorities.
Ms. Gertig has been a partner in a major national law firm, a cross-trainer at Georgetown University's graduate schools of law and business, a high school teacher in East Africa and the Pacific Islands, an unemployment insurance analyst, and a social worker in Spanish Harlem. She speaks French, Spanish, and Swahili. Ms. Gertig has a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
