During her more than six years at HSR, Ms. Bellamy contributed her vast research and evaluation expertise to a wide range of projects aimed at improving health and human services for underserved populations, particularly women and children. She recently served as Project Director for the Congressionally-mandated focus group evaluation of Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Ms. Bellamy orchestrated the conduct of 52 focus groups around the nation, targeting low-income parents of children with and without health insurance.

Ms. Bellamy also contributed to a wide variety of publications in the field of maternal and child health. For four years, she oversaw the publication of Child Health USA, managing a team of researchers, writers, and graphic artists to produce this data book that offers a statistical look at children's health through a variety of health status indicators. Ms. Bellamy also conducted extensive data analyses for articles on children's preventive health published in the Journal of Adolescent Health and Pediatrics.

Some of Ms. Bellamy's early work at HSR included developing a user-friendly handbook to help Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program staff and primary care professionals to coordinate their services, and providing technical assistance in the areas of child care health consultation, needs assessment, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining the HSR team, Ms. Bellamy conducted research for social marketing campaigns for a number of State WIC programs. Ms. Bellamy was a graduate of Wellesley College and received a masters in public health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

She leaves behind her husband, Keith Cherry, and their two children, Isabel and Walker Cherry. She also leaves behind a legacy of commitment to improving the health of women and children, which her colleagues at HSR will carry on in her memory.
