What Resources Are Available?

State and municipal systems wishing to implement this training program can take advantage of available technical assistance. The sponsoring Federal agencies, including CSAT, CDC, and HRSA, have made "seed" funds available to support initial deliveries of this proven curriculum, keeping in mind the ultimate goal of local adaptation and replication of the curriculum. This technical assistance, in tandem with local resources, is designed to help begin a training process that will demonstrate the potential for ongoing State and municipal capacity-building activities. Available resources include the following:

  • Expert facilitators, trainers, and addictions and public health specialists who team with local trainers for training workshops

  • Traditional two-day training workshops or Train-the-Trainer workshops

  • Training needs assessment

  • Technical assistance facilitation for collaboration

  • Facilitated planning process

  • Logistical support

  • Training curriculum (manager's, facilitator's and participant's manuals; transparencies; handouts)

  • Comprehensive evaluation process

  • Follow-up reinforcement and evaluation
